Expert confirms dead fish was killed by a shark

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - When a dead fish washed up on Swami's Beach, there was debate about what killed it. It appears it was the work of a great white shark, but others thought it could have been a sea lion.

We spoke with shark expert Ralph Collier, who believes 100 percent the bite came from a great white.

"That was easily determined from the individual insertion points of teeth that can be seen in the wounds of the guitarfish," Collier said.

He estimated the shark to be around 10 feet long. It took about two-thirds of the fish.

It was a week ago that a shark was photographed in a wave on the same beach.
