Attempted robbery reported at Clairemont bagel shop

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) – Police are investigating an attempted robbery at a Clairemont bagel shop Tuesday morning.

The incident happened around 5:15 a.m. at the Einsteins Brothers bagel shop near Genesee and Balboa, which is now back open for business.

Police said a masked man in a hoodie tried to break through the front door of the bagel shop.  The store was not open for business at the time so the employees did not let the man inside.  That is when the man pulled out a gun and opened fire, striking the door frame of the business.

No one was reported injured.  The suspect did not get away with any cash or food.

Police do not know if this incident is connected to similar robberies at Einsteins bagel restaurants in the last few weeks.
