Northbound lanes open again on Interstate 5

Posted: Updated:

(CBS 8) - A SigAlert on northbound Interstate 5 is over and all lanes are open from Cassidy Street to the Aliso Creek rest stop.

This is an update. The original story is below.

(CBS 8) - A SigAlert has been issued on northbound Interstate 5, after two semi-trucks were involved in a crash. Traffic is stop-and-go from Cassidy to the rest area.

As of this report, only two lanes are open on the northbound side from Cassidy Street up to the Aliso Creek rest stop.

Crews say to expect slowing on the roads for several more hours, as they work to re-open the remaining two lanes.

All four lanes were closed early Tuesday morning after a rig collided with a FedEx truck. A SigAlert was issued around 1:30 a.m. The accident left wreckage and debris spread across all lanes and one of the trucks also leaked diesel fuel. The semi was reportedly carrying 37,000 pounds of tomatoes.

Southbound Interstate 5 is also backed up from Los Flores to Manchester Avenue.
