Dumanis announces more endorsements for mayoral bid

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis announced Tuesday that several law enforcement organizations have endorsed her bid to become San Diego's mayor.

The latest expressions of support for her campaign came from the California Narcotics Officers Association, the Peace Officers of California and the California Code Enforcement Officers Association.

Previously, Dumanis received endorsements from the California District Attorney Investigators Association, the San Diego District Attorney Investigators Association and the San Diego Community College Police Officers Association.

"I'm honored by the endorsements I've receiving from my colleagues in public safety across the state of California," Dumanis said. "In the past nine years as District Attorney, I've worked to improve communication and cooperation among law enforcement in the state."

She has also been endorsed by Sheriff Bill Gore, retired Sheriff Bill Kolender and current San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders, who was once chief of the San Diego Police Department.

Dumanis is being challenged in the June 5, 2012, primary election by Councilman Carl DeMaio; Rep. Bob Filner, D-San Diego; and Assemblyman Nathan Fletcher, R-San Diego, among others.
