Lights back on in La Jolla and UTC after outage

LA JOLLA (CBS 8) – The lights are back on in La Jolla and the UTC area after a widespread power outage.

Around midnight, up to 3500 customers were in the dark.

The outage was centered around I-5 and Regents Road, but some homes and businesses as far south as Pacific Beach were impacted.

A traffic accident at the intersection of La Jolla Village Drive and Regents Road is being blamed on the power outage. A man from out of town drove through the intersection where a light was out and T-boned another car. Both drivers were treated for minor injuries.
