Lucky Mega Millions lotto winner from Carlsbad

Posted: Updated:

CARLSBAD (CNS) - A Carlsbad gas station sold a runner-up Mega Millions lottery ticket worth more than $292,000, California Lottery officials said Saturday.

One player matched five of six winning numbers in last night's drawing, which were 21, 27, 32, 40 and 52, but missed the Mega number, 36, officials said. Since no one won the jackpot, Tuesday's game will be worth $96 million.

The winning ticket was bought at the Poinsettia Village Chevron, at 7170 Avenida Encinas, and the lucky player has 180 days from the drawing to claim the $292,587 prize, according to a California Lottery statement, which directed the winner or winners to sign the back of the ticket, keep it in a safe place then contact lottery officials or visit a local district lottery office.

Mega Millions is played in California and 41 other states.
