SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 15-year-old boy was stabbed Thursday in an apparent gang attack in the Colina Del Sol neighborhood, according to a San Diego police officer.
The attack happened near the intersection of Polk and Winona avenues at about 8:50 p.m., SDPD Officer David Stafford said.
The victim was walking down the street when he was approached by two apparent gang members who gave the teen a gang challenge, asking him what neighborhood he was from, Stafford said.
The victim told the pair he was not a gang member and began to run away. The two assailants chased the victim and one of them stabbed the victim in the back, said Stafford.
The victim was taken to a local trauma center with non-life-threatening injuries and was expected to recover, said Stafford.
No suspect information was immediately available and the SDPD's Mid City Division was investigating the attack, Stafford said.
National City police were responding to a shooting scene with "multiple victims'' Saturday morning, but it was unclear if there were any fatalities, according to officials.
