SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 15-year-old boy was stabbed Thursday in an apparent gang attack in the Colina Del Sol neighborhood, according to a San Diego police officer.
The attack happened near the intersection of Polk and Winona avenues at about 8:50 p.m., SDPD Officer David Stafford said.
The victim was walking down the street when he was approached by two apparent gang members who gave the teen a gang challenge, asking him what neighborhood he was from, Stafford said.
The victim told the pair he was not a gang member and began to run away. The two assailants chased the victim and one of them stabbed the victim in the back, said Stafford.
The victim was taken to a local trauma center with non-life-threatening injuries and was expected to recover, said Stafford.
No suspect information was immediately available and the SDPD's Mid City Division was investigating the attack, Stafford said.
