SAN MARCOS (CBS 8) - It's been a year since I first visited this hallowed home in San Marcos, but nothing that I've seen before could prepare me for what's inside the inner sanctum.
Halloween comes but once a year, but it arrives a little early at Dawn Brock's house.
"Basically it took two months this year, started in August," Dawn said.
That's when she starts putting up the ghouls and goblins, the witches and warlocks that haunt every hallway and entomb every room.
"Each year I add on. I look for more unique stuff and have fun with it. Each year it just gets bigger and better," Dawn said.
Family portraits hang in the portals. Screams and howls permeate every pour of the premises. Talking heads and walking dead, in this demonic domicile expected the unexpected.
"We have our mini-graveyard in the kitchen," Dawn said.
It leads to some fine dining. There's not a room in the house that's not decked in demons. Decorating at the Brock house is a family affair. Daughter Kelsey is quick to lend a haunting hand.
"I help with the house outside and do a lot of the cobwebs," Kelsey said.
Nobody gets a bigger kick out of this macabre cacophony than the mistress of the manor herself. But these creatures won't hang around forever.
"Not long after Halloween, this stuff comes down," Dawn said.
As you can imagine, Dawn's all in when it comes to decorating for Christmas. So this spooky stuff will haunt her garage until next year, when she promises big thrills for the sequel.
