Soldier killed in Afghanistan was Rancho Bernardo High grad

SAN DIEGO (CNS/CBS 8) - A soldier from San Diego was killed in the Kandahar province of Afghanistan, the U.S. Department of Defense announced Sunday.

Sgt. 1st Class Kristoffer B. Domeij died from wounds suffered when his unit was attacked by an improvised explosive device on Saturday. The 29-year-old soldier was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, based at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington, the Department of Defense said.

Domeij was also reportedly a graduate of San Bernardo High School in 2001.

This unit was in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
