SPRING VALLEY (CNS) - Two men were behind bars Saturday following an alleged carjacking in San Diego's Oak Park neighborhood and an armed robbery at a Spring Valley convenience store, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department reported.

The two suspects were allegedly breaking into a car about 11:30 p.m. Friday in the 5400 block of Bayview Heights when they saw a 21-year-old man getting into a 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, San Diego police said. The pair approached the victim, threatened him with a foam-pellet pistol and took his car.

The carjackers then headed to a Spring Valley am/pm convenience store, at 9065 Campo Road, where one suspect, armed with the air pistol, demanded money from the cashier, according to Sheriff's Sgt. E.L. Wallace.

The robber ran from the store and got into a silver Monte Carlo, which took off toward Spring Street, Wallace said. A description of of the suspects and vehicle was broadcast to surrounding agencies.

La Mesa police caught up with the pair when the Monte Carlo was crashed into a curb on Massachusetts Avenue near state Route 94, according to the sheriff's department and police. Sheriff's deputies recovered money and the air-soft pistol allegedly used in the robbery, Wallace said.

Both suspects resisted arrest, and police used a Taser to shock one before taking the pair into custody, police said.

Gerry Bullard, 22, and Keith Davis, 26, were both arrested and were booked into San Diego Central Jail for suspicion of robbery and conspiracy, according to the sheriff's department and jail records.
