Brush-clearing burns at MCAS Miramar Saturday

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Some plumes of smoke will rise over Marine Corps Air Station Miramar Saturday as military firefighters will take part in routine brush-clearing controlled burns on the base's airfield.

The prescribed fires are scheduled to start about 9 a.m. and continue for roughly three hours, according to the Marine Corps station's public affairs office.

The operation is not expected to cause any visibility problems for motorists on nearby Interstate 15 and surrounding city streets, officials said.
