SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 21-year-old man is dead following a shooting that occurred at a party in Valley Center, the Sheriff's Department said Sunday.

Deputies from Valley Center patrol responded to a call at 9:13 p.m. Saturday at the 29400 block of Stargaze Lane regarding a disturbance at a party. The deputies talked to two people from two separate house parties about quieting down the ruckus and then left, Lieutenant Larry Nesbit said.

At 9:55 p.m., deputies received a call of shots fired from the same area. Arriving on the scene about four minutes later, deputies found the young victim dead at the scene, laying in the driveway of a residence, Nesbit said.

Homicide detectives were called to the scene and interviewed approximately 90 partygoers from the two parties.

The victim's name has not yet been released pending the notification of next of kin and there is no known suspect yet, Nesbit said.

He asked anyone with information about the death to call the Homicide Detail at (858) 974-2321/after hours at (858) 565-5200, or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-TIPS(8477).
