DEL MAR (CNS) - Authorities asked for the public's help Monday in locating a hit-and-run driver who sent another motorist to the hospital in an apparent road-rage incident that began at a Del Mar parking garage.
The hit-and-run crash in the underground parking garage at Del Mar Plaza at 1555 Camino Del Mar occurred about 8:20 p.m. last Tuesday, said San Diego County sheriff's Deputy Brenda Wiebe.
A woman exiting the garage in her vehicle had stopped to pay at an exit stand when a man in a vehicle behind her's began honking, Wiebe said. The man then got out of his silver newer-model Mercedes, cursed at the woman and kicked the rear of her car, she said.
He then got back into his vehicle and rammed the woman's car at least twice, sending it into a center median and several bushes on 15th Street, according to Wiebe.
The deputy said the woman was taken by paramedics to Scripps Memorial Hospital with moderate injuries.
The Mercedes, possibly an S series, may have moderate front end damage, Wiebe said. Its driver, who got away, was described as white, heavy set and in his 50s, with short gray hair.
Anyone with information about the incident was asked to call Wiebe at (760) 966-3568.
