Lawyer for Cain accuser says she alleged "several incidents"

Posted: Updated:

WASHINGTON (AP) — Even as Herman Cain tries to show that he won't let a sexual harassment controversy dominate his Republican presidential campaign, there's a new statement from the lawyer for one of his accusers.

The statement says she alleged "several incidents of sexual harassment" in a complaint filed more than a decade ago, when the woman and Cain both worked at the National Restaurant Association.

Cain has denied ever sexually harassing anyone.

Attorney Joel Bennett says his client accepted a financial settlement as part of an agreement to leave her job shortly after lodging the complaint. He didn't name the woman, and said she had decided not to "relive the specifics" of the incidents in a public forum.

The restaurant association has also released a statement. It says Cain had disputed the woman's allegations at the time she made them.

At least two other women have made similar allegations. And a former pollster for the restaurant association has said he witnessed yet another episode.

Cain today drew cheers from conservative activists gathered in Washington as he delivered a speech focused on the U.S. economy.
