SAN DIEGO (CNS) - San Diego police Monday investigated an apparent drunken driving crash in Rolando that sent three people to the hospital -- two with broken bones and the third with life-threatening injuries.

A 23-year-old man driving a Volvo at between 60 and 70 miles per hour rear-ended a 20-year-old motorcyclist and his passenger on northbound College Avenue near Acorn Street around 9:40 p.m. Sunday, said San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros.

The Volvo driver, who had been drinking alcohol, suffered extensive, life-threatening internal injuries, he said.

The 20-year-old man driving the chopper suffered a neck fracture while his passenger had a broken arm, Delimitros said.
