11 years in prison for sex offender who received child porn

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A registered sex offender who admitted receiving photos of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct was sentenced today to nearly 11 years in federal prison.

Nicholas James Ferguson, 29, pleaded guilty in March to receipt of child pornography.

The San Diego resident was sentenced to 130 months behind bars by U.S. District Judge John Houston, who noted that the defendant had been previously convicted of a sex offense involving a 9-year-old.

"This sentence sends a message that recidivist child sex offenders, including those who continue to sexually exploit children through child pornography, will not be tolerated in this community," said U.S. Attorney Laura Duffy.

Ferguson admitted receiving the child pornography between March and October of last year.
