Paras Newsstand: All the news that's fit to print

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - In the current renaissance that resonates through North Park, the corner of 30th and University is still one of the busiest intersections in the city.

Throughout all of this perpetual motion, Paras Newsstand survives, and even thrives.

"It's all here from A to Z. We're the biggest newsstand in San Diego," Junior Najor said.

Paras has been there since 1949, featuring news from around the world.

"The Irish papers, the popular Sunday papers," Junior said. "The Express and The Mail."

The shelves are jammed with over 4,000 different magazines.

"Personally, I do everything I can to track down a certain title through all the different distribution that we do have," Junior said.

There are periodicals from every place.

"These are all the international magazines we get from France, Italy, Africa, here are the tabloids from Britain," Junior said.

There are publications from prurient to passionate.

"We're definitely not biased here," Junior said.

From high-brow to high maintenance.

"This is where you'll find all of your high-end fashion magazines for all the fashionistas. There's a Vogue Accessories -- it's a semi-annual. It only comes out twice a year and it's $40 a magazine," Junior said.

From education to aviation, chances are if it's in print, it's in here.

On the corner of 30th and University, Paras remains at the epicenter of print.
