SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Snake down Olde Highway 80, turn into the parking lot and see the decades slip away.
Summers Past Farms is an old-fashioned oasis of simple country comforts. For 19 years, it's been the bailiwick of Cheryl and Marshall Lozier.
"Most of our customers who come here or the first time can't believe they are in San Diego," Marshall said.
In these kid-friendly gardens, there are ferries and flowers, photo ops and feathers to be ruffled, or you can just sit and fade back into simpler times, surrounded by fresh air and mountains.
"We're far enough from the beach, so we get a different kind of weather and close enough to the mountains that we can go up and enjoy the snow," Marshall said. "It just gives you a different feeling to be out here."
And now is the most wonderful time of the year to visit Summers Past Farms, because the barn is bustling with holiday glow.
"The barn is wonderful. The scents and sights of Christmas, it's exciting. We all walked through today, looked at it and went 'Wow, we did it again,'" Cheryl said. "It's so fun, the vintage look of the reindeer, the pine cones, Santas, the greens, the reds, potpourri."
Across the courtyard, a cozy cottage offers scents handcrafted on the farm.
"It's filled with our holiday collection of soaps. We even have pumpkin pie soap,"Cheryl said.
On Thursday evening, Summers Past Farms will hold their holiday open house, a toast to ol' Tannenbaum in the tradition, a chance to decompress from the city's stress.
"We are a place where you can just unwind," Cheryl said.
Nestled in ageless and timeless seclusion, Summers Past Farms is a sun-splashed salute to the way we were.
