SAN DIEGO (AP) - Rains are pounding San Diego and showers are lingering over the Los Angeles area as a weekend storm passes over Southern California.
The National Weather Service issued a flood advisory Saturday afternoon for coastal areas, mountains and valleys in and around San Diego, where nearly an inch of rain had fallen in some places.
Snow fell on the mountains north of Los Angeles early Saturday, including powder that was sticking to Interstate 5 in the Grapevine area, but by late morning a winter weather advisory for LA and Ventura counties was canceled.
Scattered showers struck the area throughout the day, with about a quarter-inch of rain falling on much of LA County.
The storm is expected to continue south into Mexico later Saturday night.
