Storm knocks out power, wreaks havoc on roadways

EL CAJON/RANCHO BERNARDO (CBS 8) - About 1500 SDG&E customers were without power Saturday when a large tree fell onto some power lines in Calavo Gardens.

It happened at 4800 block of Avocado Boulevard. Crews arrived on scene around 5:20 p.m. and expected to have power restored by 6 p.m.

Areas that were affected are Casa De Oro, Rancho San Diego and El Cajon, Granite Hills, Singing Hills, La Presa and Spring Valley.

Another power outage has been reported Saturday in the Rancho Bernardo area where more than 1300 customers have lost power.

The exact cause of the outage is unknown.

Areas that have been affected are Rancho Penasquitos, Rancho Bernardo, San Pasqual, W Bernardo, Del Dios, and Lake Hodges.

Crews are currently on scene in both areas.

    SAN DIEGO (NEWS 8) - At least two people were taken to area hospitals after a dispute between neighbors in Chula Vista led to gunfire. Chula Vista Police Department officers responded to the incident near Monterey Avene and E. J Street. in Chula Vista at around 10:28 p.m. One victim was taken to UCSD Medical Center and another was taken to Scripps Mercy Hospital. Check back for updates on this breaking news story.
