Suicidal Calif. prosecutor warned DA of her death

Posted: Updated:

OCEANSIDE, Calif. (AP) - A San Diego County prosecutor who shot herself during a police stop had sent the district attorney and dozens of other people an email with the subject line: "My Death."

The North County Times says Christine Trevino emailed at least 50 people on Oct. 26. She killed herself in Oceanside last week as a police officer spoke to her through the car window.

Police had been looking for Trevino after she threatened to kill herself and left her Escondido home.

In the email, the 51-year-old deputy district attorney accuses the district attorney's administration of taking another employee's side in a dispute and warns officials not to try to cover up her death.

Spokesman Steve Walker says the email prompted failed efforts by the DA's office to keep Trevino safe.
