Woman catches baby formula thief on camera

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Deputies are looking for a thief who swiped a package from the front door of a home. What the thief saw was a package at Kimberly Alexy's front door. What he didn't see was the camera watching him.

You see the truck pull up to Kimberly's front door, her dogs come over for a closer look, and then the man's window rolls down.

"He drops, I don't know, is it a treat? He drops something, presumably for the dogs," Kimberly said.

Kimberly has no idea who the guy is. She wasn't expecting any visitors. He hops out of his truck and heads to her front door.

"Now, he doesn't ring my doorbell, and I notice because I'm home and there nothing on the video," Kimberly said.

The man, who appears to be in his 50s, looks through several windows before finally making his move for the box.

"Casing my house and stole from me while my baby was sleeping in the next room. It's very disturbing and I really want this man caught," Kimberly said.

The box was from Amazon.com, and inside, not a Kindle or an iPad. Instead, it was baby formula.

"He probably thought there was some exceptional loot in the package, and he gets away with baby milk. It's priceless," Kimberly said.

Kimberly has analyzed the video enough to where she believes the vehicle is a Nissan Titan, king cab, lifted with no running boards. She's hoping someone recognizes the truck, or the man, and calls the sheriff's department, which is investigating the theft.

"We're on a quiet street, end of a cul-de-sac, long driveway, two shepherds. Who would steal from me?" she said.

Kimberly is guessing the guy came to her home to solicit business, and she figures if it happened to her, you could be next. So a warning: bring in packages, watch for suspicious people in your neighborhood -- and for Kimberly -- more security.
