Wind advisory in effect for mountain and desert regions

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Strong gusty winds will buffet the mountains and deserts of San Diego County Friday, forecasters said.

A wind advisory will be in effect in both mountain and desert regions from noon through the rest of Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

Winds will be strongest late Friday afternoon and into Friday evening, with gusts of up to 50 mph, according to NWS forecasters.

The windy conditions result from a trough of low pressure moving inland through the Pacific Northwest and Northern California.

"The winds will make driving difficult, especially for motorists with high-profile vehicles," warned the agency, which issues a wind advisory when winds of 35 mph or greater are expected.

"Watch for broken tree limbs and downed power lines."
