VALLEY CENTER (CNS/ CBS8) - A suspect has died of his injuries after being shot by a San Diego Sheriff's Deputy, during a scuffle outside a Valley Center home.
It happened shortly after 4:00p.m. in the 28000 block of Lilac Road.
Deputies were trying to serve a felony search warrant to the suspect after getting a tip from a citizen about the wanted man's location.
Authorities say the suspect tried to run into the street to escape. Deputies tased the man, who they say resisted. Then a deputy used a baton on him. A Sheriff's Dept. spokesperson says the suspect somehow got control of the baton, and that's when the deputy opened fire.
The man was transported to Palomar Medical Center where he died of his injuries.
The deputy involved in the shooting has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation.
