SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A hospice patient was found dead after a shooting Wednesday at a home in Lakeside.
It all started shortly before 1 p.m. on the 11000 block of Morning Dove Drive. Sheriff's deputies say the 75-year-old man grabbed a gun and tried to shoot himself. His caregiver tried to stop him, but ended up getting shot in the hand.
She told deputies the man may have shot himself as well, but wasn't sure.
A SWAT team surrounded the home, and found the man dead after going inside.

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The San Diego County Sheriff's Department SWAT team responded Wednesday to a report of an attempted suicide in the Lakeside area, officials said.
It happened in the 11000 block of Morning Dove Drive. According to a sheriff's spokesperson, a 75-year-old hospice patient attempted to shoot himself with a gun. A nurse was able to take the gun away, but suffered minor injuries in the process. She was taken to Sharp Hospital for treatment.
Crazy Horse Drive at Toyon Lane was closed while SWAT attempted to get the man to come out of the home.
