Die-hard shoppers already camping out for Black Friday

LA MESA (CBS8) - Die-hard bargain hunters are braving the cold and blowing of Thanksgiving to camp out for the best Black Friday deals.

The first people in line at the Best Buy store in La Mesa pitched their tent Tuesday night, in order to secure their spot for a 42" HDTV for $199. Other early birds staked their place in line-- all willing to sleep out in the cold for the hot deal. The store opens at midnight on Black Friday.

"It's Occupy Best Buy," said Karl Malkowski. He and his friend Greg Collins told News 8 that they're the 99% who need a new TV, and can't afford the $700-$800 retail price.

By Wednesday evening, there were about a dozen tents set up around the store, with several people per tent. They will all be spending Thanksgiving in line. Collins said he plans to grab a hot dog from the 7-Eleven across the street, telling News 8, "I figure I can eat my Thanksgiving turkey on Friday when I'm watching my new TV."
