LEMON GROVE (CNS) - Two young men, one armed with a pistol, robbed an East County cell-phone store Monday.
The holdup in the 7900 block of Broadway in Lemon Grove was reported shortly after 10:30 a.m., Lt. David Gilmore said.
Following the robbery, the thieves ran off to the south through an alley and may have fled the area in a small four-door car. It was not immediately clear what they stole, according to Gilmore.
Administrators at nearby Golden Avenue Elementary and a day-care center in the neighborhood kept their pupils and preschoolers secured indoors for about a half-hour as deputies searched for the bandits, aided by a crew aboard a police helicopter.
The robbers remained at large in the early afternoon, the lieutenant said.
