SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 21-year-old San Diego woman was arrested Saturday for allegedly setting her boyfriend's Southcrest house on fire, police said.

The 25-year-old victim and girlfriend Johanna Gutierrez got into an argument at her home on Julian Avenue then the victim walked to his residence in the 3600 block of Acacia Street just before 2 p.m., according to San Diego police Sgt. Ray Battrick.

The victim told police as he arrived home he saw Gutierrez running out the front door and the house "exploded in flames," Battrick said. The victim called police and the fire department.

Gutierrez allegedly used gasoline to set a sofa on fire in a bedroom, Battrick said.

No one was injured, but the house sustained heavy damage to at least one room, Battrick said.

The victim could not catch up to Gutierrez who got into a waiting car and sped away, but its driver stopped after a short distance, Battrick said.

Officers spotted Gutierrez in the 3800 block of Beta Street, not far from the burning house, and she was arrested for suspicion of burglary and arson, Battrick said.

The Metro Arson Strike Team continued to investigate.
