SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Two adults and two children were hurt when a speeding Land Rover driven by an alleged drunken driver smashed into two cars on Interstate 8 in Mission Valley Sunday, it was reported.

The crash occurred about 10 a.m. on eastbound Interstate 8 just past Waring Road, said a California Highway Patrol dispatcher.

According to a local news source, witnesses saw a Land Rover speed eastbound at an estimated 80-90 mph, clip one car and then rear-end a Lexus SUV. The Lexus spun out and went down the embankment in the center divider of the freeway, dropping 120 to 150 feet onto the westbound lanes of the freeway.

CHP officers found two adults and two children trapped in the Lexus, the dispatcher said.

The two adults were taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital and the two children were taken to Rady Children's Hospital, according to the news source.

Their condition was unknown, the dispatcher said.

The driver of the Land Rover was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, the TV station reported.
