3 men to stand trial in So. Cal park killings

Posted: Updated:

VISTA, Calif. (AP) - Three gang members will stand trial for allegedly shooting to death a teenaged couple at a San Diego County park.

The North County Times says a judge ruled Monday that there's enough evidence to try the three on charges that they murdered 14-year-old Sandra Salgado and 16-year-old Fernando Solano.

The teens, who had no gang ties, were shot in May at Libby Lake Park in Oceanside.

Prosecutors contend that 19-year-old AL'C Bejaran pulled the trigger. Authorities haven't decided whether to seek the death penalty.

His co-defendants, 19-year-old Justin Gibson and 34-year-old Kenneth Hamilton, could face 51 years in prison.

All three remain jailed Tuesday.
