Meth found in canned cheese and jalapenos

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (AP) - Federal agents say they have found seven pounds of methamphetamine stuffed inside cans of nacho fixings at the San Ysidro border crossing in San Diego County.

The Los Angeles Times says the meth was found stuffed in cans of cheese sauce and jalapenos. The drugs are worth an estimated $140,000 on the street.

Officers on Tuesday arrested a 21-year-old Mexican citizen who lives in Oxnard on suspicion of smuggling methamphetamine.

He told agents that he was returning to California after grocery shopping across the border, but officials said the cans seemed too heavy.

The drugs were discovered after an X-ray screening.
