SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - With a name like Frock You, this is not your ordinary resale shop.
"What we carry here are older items from the 80s, 70s, 60s. We specialize in the 40s and 50s," Curt Benedetto said.
But during this season, this Park Boulevard retro boutique is bullish on bad taste.
"It's kind of become a phenomenon in the United States for people to have an ugly Christmas party, whether it's at the office or at the house," Curt said.
So they've stacked the racks with nerdy knitwear.
"No matter how ugly a sweater might be, there is someone who craves it. The uglier, the better," Curt said.
You have to understand that somebody, somewhere in a mall 20, 30 years ago walked in and said, "This would be perfect for dad."
"And dad wore it a couple of times, left it in his closet and we eventually find it," Curt said.
And then sell them back to ugly sweater connoisseurs.
"The sweaters have been flying off pretty good for the entire season," Curt said.
At this time of year, it's tres chick to don our goony gear to honor Christmas past. In the true tradition of the season, this year, let's put the dork back in Christmas.
