CHULA VISTA (CNS) - A 35-year-old motorcyclist from Chula Vista was in critical condition Sunday after a colliding with an SUV that crossed his path Saturday evening.
The crash occurred about 4:55 p.m. Saturday when a driver in a Jeep Liberty made a left turn from Palomar Street to Industrial Boulevard. The motorcyclist could not avoid the SUV and struck the vehicle's side, Chula Vista Police Lt. Dan Hardman said.
The man was thrown off his Harley Davidson motorcycle and suffered serious injuries. He was transported to UCSD Medical Center where he was in surgery and listed in critical condition, Hardman said.
The driver of the SUV, along with his wife and children, were not injured.
Police do not believe that anyone involved was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, Hardman said.
