MISSION BAY PARK (CNS) - A southbound portion of Interstate 5 next to Mission Bay was closed after an RV rear-ended a Mini Cooper Saturday.
The collision occurred about 11 a.m. on the 5 Freeway approaching Sea World Drive, when a brown RV crashed into the Mini Cooper near the right hand shoulder, a California Highway Patrol dispatcher said. The CHP did not report of the Mini Cooper had stalled or had merely been stuck in traffic.
Debris covered the roadway, causing about seven vehicles to pull over to the shoulder.
The CHP issued a SigAlert for southbound I-5 near Sea World Drive, as the number-five lane was blocked, the dispatcher said.
An ambulance was called to the scene but dispatchers did not know if anyone was injured.
