CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. (AP) - The U.S. Navy is expected to present its highest honor to the California family of a 20-year-old Marine killed by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan after helping his fellow Marines get out of harm's way.

Navy Secretary Ray Mabus is expected to give the Navy Cross on Tuesday to the family of Lance Cpl. Donald J. Hogan during a ceremony at Camp Pendleton in California. Hogan was from San Clemente, Calif.

The Marine Corps said in a statement that Hogan alerted his squad to the bomb while on patrol in 2009.

It says he pushed one Marine out of the blast zone before he was killed.
