SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A man was in custody Tuesday on suspicion of trying to rob a man at gunpoint as the victim pumped gas into his car in Linda Vista, police said.

The attempted robbery at the Arco gas station at 6936 Linda Vista Road was reported at 11:45 p.m. Monday, according to San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros.

The gunman walked away northbound on Linda Vista Road when the victim refused to hand over any cash, Delimitros said. He was captured a short time later by officers responding to the attempted robbery report.

A handgun was recovered, Delimitros said.
