Teen faces DUI charges in East County crash

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - An 18-year-old is facing drunken driving charges, after a crash in San Carlos that sent eight people to the hospital.

San Diego police say the 18-year-old crashed his Dodge Charger, carrying a total of four teens, into an SUV around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday on Jackson Drive and Lake Badin.

A father and his three young children were inside the SUV that flipped onto its side.

Authorities say Good Samaritans helped save the man's one-year-old baby who was ejected during the crash.

"It appears the one-year-old was pinned underneath the SUV. Neighbors came and pushed up the SUV and pulled the child out from underneath the car," explained Lieutenant Paul Rorrison with the San Diego Police Department.

A total of eight people from both vehicles were taken to area hospitals, including all three children and their father. Two victims suffered major injuries. It's unclear if the driver of the Dodge Charger was hurt.
