ALPINE (CBS 8) - People in Alpine are being asked to conserve water this weekend, as crews work to repair a broken 24-inch main.

The pipe, which broke Thursday under Arnold Way near South Grade Road, is one of the only sources of water to the Alpine area.

Customers had to rely on reservoirs for water, while Padre Dam crews installed a temporary fix for the pipe. Crews are now asking people to save water as they refill those reservoirs.

They hope to have repairs completed by Monday.
