SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Dogs took over the USS Midway Saturday as part of a special training program so they can help the blind.
Volunteer puppy raisers with the non-profit group Guide Dogs of the Desert were onboard training the next generation of dogs for people across the country.
The environment is full of distractions from crowds of people to kids, to food distractions. The training teaches the puppies to ignore those and concentrate on the handlers needs.
Guide Dogs of the Desert says there is an increased need for guide dogs for service members injured in battle overseas.
