SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - "Gung Hei Fat Choy!" Or "Happy New Year!"

Hundreds of people headed downtown this weekend to help usher in the year of the dragon. It is all part of the 30th annual San Diego Chinese New Year Food and Cultural Fair.

People enjoyed a lantern parade and dragon dance, face-painting, and delicious, traditional food.

"You'll get to experience a lot of Chinese culture because Chinese New Year is the most important holiday in Chinese culture," Yen Tu of the San Diego Chinese Center said.

The Year of the Dragon is said to bring optimism and hope for better times ahead.

Some experts are even predicting an Asian baby boom because the babies born under the dragon will be lucky and strong.
