Paw Pleasers: Doggie Valentine treats

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - At a boutique bakery in North Park, they are already gearing up for affairs of the heart.

"We fresh bake and decorate all the treats here. We love Valentine's Day. We did a play on the traditional conversation hearts -- we have the hand-decorated ones and we also have the hand-stamped," Loree Shirazi said.

Paw Pleasers has healthy treats for the sweetest of our sweets.

"We don't use any artificial ingredients or preservatives," Loree said.

The kitchen is filled with custom orders.

"We can custom do Valentine cakes, and everything is made here on site," Loree said. "We've done weddings, bar mitzvahs, Valentine's Day, all kinds of stuff."

Yet at Paw Pleasers, these yummy-looking treats aren't made for people on two feet. Loree Shirazi has been making tail-wagging desserts for 14 years.

"We were the first original bakery in San Diego," she said.

This is her favorite time of year. The house specialty is the freshly made pumpkin ice cream.

"The ice cream is non-dairy, lactose-free," Loree said. "We use the same type of ingredients, we just modify them so they are safe, not as sweet."

Spirit, the shop's rescue dog is crazy about it too.

"They provide so much love and companionship, and they don't ask for anything but a snack and a pat on the head occasionally," Loree said.
