
SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 23-year-old man alleged stabbed another man outside a liquor store near the San Diego Sports Arena, San Diego police said Saturday.
The suspect was swinging a bicycle chain as he approached the a woman while her boyfriend was inside the store, in on Midway Drive near Rosecrans Street, at about 9:35 p.m. Friday, according to San Diego police Officer David Stafford.
The suspect reportedly said he was waiting for the boyfriend, and then confronted the man as he walked out of the store, Stafford said.
An argument ensued, then the suspect pulled a knife and stabbed the victim in the abdomen, Stafford said.
The victim was taken to a hospital to be treated for a stab wound that was not believed to be life-threatening, Stafford said.
Police found the suspect, whose name was not immediately released, nearby and he was arrested for suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, Stafford said. Both were believed to be transients.
