SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Three San Diegans were appointed or reappointed Monday by Gov. Jerry Brown to state boards and commissions.

Lisa Barkett of La Jolla and David Watson of Chula Vista were named to the Race Track Leasing Commission as representatives of the 22nd District

Agricultural Association, which operates the Del Mar Fairgrounds. Both are on the association board.

The commission exists to lease out the Del Mar Racetrack and other properties owned by the association.

Barkett, 52, is a vice president of Merjan Financial Corp., a real estate investment firm. Watson, 54, is a partner at Duane Morris LLP, which specializes in corporate law.

Their positions do not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation.

John Farrell, 71, of Chula Vista was reappointed to the California Veterans Board, of which he has been a member since last year.

Farrell, a resident of the Veterans Home of California, was an attorney in private practice until 2004.

Board members identify the needs of veterans in the state and work to improve their rights and benefits.

His position requires Senate confirmation and compensation is $100 per diem.

All three appointees are Democrats.
