Bicyclist struck, killed in Encanto

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 20-year-old bicyclist was killed Wednesday when two vehicles struck him in quick succession at an Encanto intersection.

The man was pedaling to the north on 61st Street when he apparently rode through a stoplight at Imperial Avenue about 3 p.m., according to San Diego police.

Two eastbound vehicles struck the bicyclist, with the second hitting him after he'd been thrown onto the roadway, SDPD Officer Frank Cali said.

The man, whose name was withheld pending notification of his family, wound up trapped underneath the second car. He died at the scene.
