Project Wildlife hosts "Wildlife Baby Shower" event

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - For 40 years, Project Wildlife has saved the lives of countless injured and abandoned wild animals.

On Saturday, the animal rescue group opened its doors to the public to see what they do firsthand.

During Saturday's "Wildlife Baby Shower" event, people got to see some of Project Wildlife's young critters up close.

Animals including squirrels, rabbits, ducks and birds were there for all the fun.

Each year, the organization helps nearly 10,000 wild animals get a second chance at life.

"Why we show it off is because we are such a valuable resource to the community.  We are the only organization that takes in any and all wildlife and cares for them," CEO of Project Wildlife, Lisa Culver said.

Project Wildlife relies on public donations to help rescue the animals.
