BONSALL (CNS) - Authorities Wednesday released the name of a 26-year-old Vista man killed when he crashed a stolen pickup truck head on into a flatbed truck on a rural North County road.

Brandon Nash Blodgett was the driver and sole occupant of the eastbound 2001 Nissan Frontier that crashed on state Route 76 in Bonsall about 11 a.m. Tuesday, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.

Witnesses said the Frontier was swerving and crossing over double yellow lines before it veered directly in front of the oncoming cargo vehicle near South Mission Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A 33-year-old Murrieta man driving the flatbed was not injured, CHP Officer Jim Bettencourt said. Blodgett died at the scene.

The pickup truck was reported stolen in Escondido on Sunday, according to Bettencourt.
