The price at the pump slightly increases

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County rose one-tenth of a cent Tuesday to $4.176 after decreasing 31 of the previous 33 days.

The average price decreased for 19 consecutive days, rose one-tenth of a cent on April 17, dropped each of the next six days and rose one-tenth of a cent last Tuesday. It fell 16.7 cents over the previous 33 days, including a half-cent on Monday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

Despite Tuesday's slight increase, the average price is 2.7 cents less than one week ago, 14.3 cents lower than one month ago and 7 cents below what it was one year ago.

The declining pump prices stem from a steep decrease to the wholesale gasoline price, Marie Montgomery of the Automobile Club of Southern California told City News Service.
