ESCONDIDO (CNS) - An ex-boyfriend with a history of violence and a restraining order was arrested Saturday for allegedly barging into an Escondido townhouse and fatally stabbing his ex-girlfriend's boyfriend, police said.

Christopher James Selenak, 41, was arrested without incident about 10:45 a.m. after officers found him at his place of employment in the 1200 block of Keystone Way in Vista, police said.

Police were called to the townhome at 868 North Fig St. shortly before 4:30 a.m. by a woman who said her ex-boyfriend, later identified as Selenak, had just stabbed her current boyfriend. The woman said she had fled and called police from a friend's residence, according to Escondido police Lt. Mike Loarie.

The suspect fled before police arrived, Loarie said.

Officers arrived to the locked residence, tried unsuccessfully to get someone to come to the door then forced their way in, Loarie said.

They found an unconscious man with a large wound to his torso in one of the rooms. Paramedics began to treat the victim but he was pronounced dead about 4:45 a.m., Loarie said.

The woman told police Selenak did not live with her and alleged several past cases of threats and domestic violence. She had previously obtained a temporary restraining order against him, Loarie said.

The woman told police she had been in the townhome with her current boyfriend, when her ex-boyfriend came in uninvited. She saw him near her unconscious boyfriend, who was covered in blood, Loarie said.

Police spotted Selenak at the business and he quickly was taken into custody by detectives, officers and assisting sheriff's deputies. Loarie said he would be charged with murder.
