SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Northbound state Route 163 will be closed through the Balboa Park area from 3 to 10 a.m. Sunday so crews can make repairs to the roadway and perform maintenance work, according to Caltrans.
The northbound side of state Route 163 will be closed between Interstate 5 and Interstate 8, which would include ramps from northbound and southbound Interstate 5, according to Caltrans.
Detour signs will be placed to direct northbound motorists on Interstate 5 to continue to eastbound Interstate 8 then onto northbound state Route 163.
Travelers on southbound Interstate 5 will be detoured off at the Imperial Avenue exit, then onto the northbound freeway, then to eastbound Interstate 8 to state Route 163.
The work was scheduled when traffic volume is at its lowest. The closures were necessary so landscape, maintenance, electrical and bridge workers could safely make repairs and perform tasks maintain the roadway, according to Caltrans
