Charges under consideration in stabbing death

Posted: Updated:

VISTA (CNS) – Prosecutors Tuesday were reviewing possible charges against a man arrested on suspicion of breaking into his ex-girlfriend's townhome in Escondido and fatally stabbing her new boyfriend.

Christopher James Selena, 41, was arrested Saturday in the stabbing death and jailed on suspicion of murder.

Police said Selena's ex-girlfriend fled to a friend's house after waking up to find Selena standing near her bloody, unconscious boyfriend in her townhome in the 800 block of North Fig Street.

The victim was declared dead about 4:45 a.m., and Selena was arrested about six hours later at work.

Selena's ex-girlfriend had taken out a domestic-violence restraining order against him, authorities said.

If charges are filed, arraignment would be Wednesday at the Vista Courthouse, said Tanya Sierra of the District Attorney's Office.
